Job summary

Michael Page Finance is seeking an Audit Manager to lead audits, shape strategy and work closely with senior stakeholders in a growing practice across the UK.

You will own audits from planning through completion, act as on-site client contact, and mentor junior staff while ensuring UK GAAP compliance within a flexible portfolio and hybrid working arrangements.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified
• Experience leading audits and teams in practice
• Hands-on in a dynamic firm with UK GAAP knowledge

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution and completion of complex audits including group audits and OMBs
• Own audit engagements from planning to finalisation
• Be the primary on-site client contact and manage queries
• Deliver high-quality, review-ready audit files with minimal Partner input
• Manage team resources and capacity for efficient delivery
• Mentor and develop junior team members
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP and maintain technical leadership
• Handle a flexible portfolio focusing on audits, with potential statutory accounts and tax

Description

Key responsibilities of the Audit Manager:

• Leading the planning, execution, and completion of complex audit assignments, including group audits and owner-managed businesses (OMBs)
• Taking full ownership of audit engagements from initial planning through to completion
• Acting as the primary on-site client contact, managing queries and building strong relationships
• Producing high-quality, review-ready audit files to minimise Partner and Director involvement
• Managing team resources and capacity to ensure efficient delivery of audit assignments
• Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior team members
• Acting as a technical point of contact, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP
• Working across a flexible portfolio tailored to your expertise (audit-focused or mixed including statutory accounts and tax)

Profile

A successful Audit Manager should have:

• ACA or ACCA qualified
• Proven experience at Audit Manager or Assistant Manager level within practice
• Strong technical background in auditing, particularly within owner-managed businesses
• Experience leading audits and managing teams
• Ambitious, proactive, and keen to play a role in shaping a growing department
• Comfortable working in a hands-on role within a dynamic firm environment
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites (including occasional overnight stays)
