Job summary

Duncan & Toplis is seeking an experienced Assurance Manager to support high-quality assurance and compliance processes across the company. The role can be based in our Derby or Newark office, with flexibility to visit both locations as required.

As part of the management team, you will assist directors with assurance and commercial advice, while supporting your teams to deliver work to meet objectives and deadlines.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Assurance Manager to support the delivery of high-quality assurance and compliance processes across the company. This role can be based in either our Derby or Newark office but you will need to be flexible to visit each office when required.

What does this role involve?

As part of the management team, you will be assisting directors to provide assurance and commercial advice to clients, while supporting your teams in the delivery of their work to ensure operational objectives are met.

Teamwork

This role involves collaborating with colleagues and senior managers to ensure effective assurance processes. Supporting team members, sharing knowledge, and fostering a cooperative environment to achieve compliance, improve controls, and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Client experience

You will enhance client experience by ensuring accurate, timely, and professional service delivery, while maintaining clear communication and addressing client needs effectively.

Team management

Lead and support the team, providing clear direction, coaching and feedback while ensuring high-quality work is delivered efficiently and deadlines are met.

Skills and experience

• As part of the management team, you will oversee and develop team members by setting objectives and conducting performance reviews.
• Interact with clients on a daily basis at several levels, to identify the more complex problems faced and provide solutions. Act as the primary contact for clients and have responsibility for client relationship management
• Accountability for managing a full portfolio to the highest standard, using knowledge and skills to add value to the client by cross-selling.
• Be recognised as a technical expert within your respective field(s), both internally and externally, utilising opportunities to share knowledge and expertise to increase overall performance.
• Work with other directors/managers of the team for individual client assignments, ensuring that they are well informed and receive regular updates on progress, along with identifying and escalating any issues as necessary.
• Build a network of potential new clients in order to identify new business opportunities (e.g., active participation within funnels or similar marketing initiatives), creating a vibrant pipeline of new opportunities.
• Develop relationships with new and existing clients to identify opportunities to sell all the company’s services, pitch for new business opportunities and create tender documents.

What we are looking for:-

• Fully qualified (either by a relevant qualification or experience)
• 2 years or more UK based Audit Manager experience in client facing experience in an accountancy firm
• People management experience
• Business development skills
• Developing advisory skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Specialisation in a sector and developed key industry knowledge (Optional but not essential)
• Proactive in management of fees targets to ensure your manager meets their overall target
• Confidence in communication with clients
• Effective management of client lock up - budgets/billing/debtors
• Time management of work in progress
