Reed Midlands is partnering with a respected accountancy firm to recruit an Audit Manager. You will take ownership of audits from planning to completion, manage client relationships, and mentor junior team members. The candidate will have ACA/ACCA, solid UK practice external audit experience, and knowledge of IFRS/UK GAAP, with a proven track record in managing engagements and developing teams.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification required.
• Strong external audit experience in UK practice.
• Experience leading group and statutory audits.
• Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS 101/102).
• Experience managing audit engagements and client relationships.
• Experience coaching and developing junior team members.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of audit clients across multiple sectors.
• Leading audits from planning through completion and reporting.
• Reviewing statutory accounts and financial statements.
• Managing and developing audit teams.
• Primary point of contact for clients (FDs and CFOs).
• Reviewing complex accounting and financial reporting matters.
• Planning resources and monitoring budgets, recoveries and profitability.
• Delivering high-quality work in line with audit and regulatory requirements.
• Supporting business development activities, proposals and tenders.
• Collaborating with tax and advisory teams to provide joined-up service.

We are partnering with a highly regarded accountancy firm in the Midlands that is continuing to invest in its Audit team and is seeking an ambitious Audit Manager to join its growing practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Audit Assistant Manager ready to take the next step, or an established Audit Manager seeking greater autonomy, client exposure and long-term progression.

The Opportunity

You will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, large corporates and group audit assignments, managing audits from planning through to completion while building strong client relationships and supporting the development of junior team members.

Working closely with Partners and Directors, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality client service, managing engagement economics and contributing to the continued growth of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of audit clients across multiple sectors
• Leading audits from planning through completion and reporting
• Reviewing statutory accounts and financial statements

• Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, including Finance Directors and CFOs
• Reviewing complex accounting and financial reporting matters

• Delivering high‑quality work in line with audit and regulatory requirements
• Supporting business development activities, proposals and tenders
• Working alongside tax and advisory teams to provide a joined‑up client service

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification
• Strong external audit experience gained within UK practice
• Experience leading group and statutory audits
• Sound knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS 101 and FRS 102)
• Previous responsibility for managing audit engagements and client relationships
• Experience coaching and developing junior team members
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Commercial awareness and an interest in developing client relationships
