Job summary

Hadrian Learning Trust is seeking an Attendance Officer for a fixed-term role in Hexham to monitor attendance data and follow up absences with families. You will liaise with parents, the wider student support team and external agencies to support pupils at risk of persistent absence and safeguard welfare.

The role involves preparing reports and referrals to drive school improvement, contributing to safeguarding, and promoting the Trust’s inclusive ethos across its schools.

Qualifications

• Ability to build constructive relationships with students, parents, staff and external partners.
• Driven and enthusiastic with a strong focus on student welfare.
• Demonstrates sensitivity, resilience and professionalism in challenging situations.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills with effective prioritisation.
• Strong IT skills and ability to analyse attendance data and trends.
• Access to transport to support duties across the Trust.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse attendance data using the Trust’s MIS.
• Follow up unexplained absences daily, liaising with parents and carers.
• Collaborate with the student support team and external agencies to support at-risk pupils.
• Provide guidance to families and, where appropriate, make home visits.
• Prepare reports, referrals and correspondence to support school improvement.
• Contribute to safeguarding, student welfare and the Trust’s ethos.
