Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking an Associate Town Planner to join its growing planning team with offices in Oxford, Chelmsford or Northampton. You will manage a varied portfolio, provide expert planning advice to landowners and clients, and lead on submissions and appraisals.

The role requires a Town Planning degree (MRTPI encouraged), strong knowledge of the UK planning system, and experience in a consultancy.

Qualifications

• A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• MRTPI status or be working towards chartership
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system
• Previous experience within a planning consultancy environment
• Experience managing planning applications and working directly with clients
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage your own workload and work to deadlines
• A commercially minded and proactive approach
• Experience within rural, land, estate or development planning would be advantageous, although applications from planners with a broader consultancy background will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied caseload of planning applications and development projects
• Providing strategic planning advice to clients and landowners
• Preparing and submitting planning applications and supporting documentation
• Undertaking planning appraisals and assessing development opportunities
• Preparing planning statements, reports and other planning documents
• Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and other stakeholders
• Managing client relationships and providing a high level of professional advice
• Supporting junior members of the team and contributing to their development
• Identifying opportunities for new business and supporting the continued growth of the planning team
