Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is supporting a leading multidisciplinary rural property and land consultancy in the recruitment of an Associate Town Planner. The role offers exposure to a broad portfolio and direct client interaction across Oxford, Chelmsford or Northampton.

You will manage planning applications, provide strategic advice, prepare documents and liaise with local authorities. MRTPI status is preferred, and a degree in Town Planning is required; experience in a planning consultancy is

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
• MRTPI status or working towards chartership.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Experience in a planning consultancy environment.
• Experience managing planning applications and client work.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
• Commercially minded and proactive.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied caseload of planning applications and development projects
• Providing strategic planning advice to clients and landowners
• Preparing and submitting planning applications and supporting documentation
• Undertaking planning appraisals and assessing development opportunities
• Preparing planning statements, reports and other planning documents
• Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and other stakeholders
• Managing client relationships and providing a high level of professional advice
• Supporting junior members of the team and contributing to their development
• Identifying opportunities for new business and supporting the continued growth of the planning team

Job Title: Associate Town Planner

With offices in Oxford, Chelmsford and Northampton, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner looking to take the next step in their career within a well-established consultancy working across a diverse range of planning, development and land-related projects.

The Role

As an Associate Town Planner, you will work closely with landowners, developers, rural businesses and private clients, providing professional planning advice across a varied portfolio of projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and submitting planning applications and supporting documentation
• Undertaking planning appraisals and assessing development opportunities

The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
• MRTPI status or be working towards chartership
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system
• Previous experience within a planning consultancy environment
• Experience managing planning applications and working directly with clients
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage your own workload and work to deadlines
• A commercially minded and proactive approach

Experience within rural, land, estate or development planning would be advantageous, although applications from planners with a broader consultancy background will also be considered.
