Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking an Associate Town Planner to join its busy planning team across offices in Oxford, Chelmsford and Northampton. You will work with landowners, developers and private clients, delivering professional planning advice on a varied portfolio of projects.

The role involves managing a diverse caseload, preparing planning applications and statements, liaising with authorities and stakeholders, and supporting junior team members while helping grow the business.

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
• MRTPI status or working towards chartership.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Experience in planning consultancy and managing applications.

Responsibilities

The Role

As an Associate Town Planner, you will work closely with landowners, developers, rural businesses and private clients, providing professional planning advice across a varied portfolio of projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a varied caseload of planning applications and development projects
• Providing strategic planning advice to clients and landowners
• Preparing and submitting planning applications and supporting documentation
• Undertaking planning appraisals and assessing development opportunities
• Preparing planning statements, reports and other planning documents
• Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and other stakeholders

The Candidate

• A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
• MRTPI status or be working towards chartership
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system
• Previous experience within a planning consultancy environment
• Experience managing planning applications and working directly with clients
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage your own workload and work to deadlines
• A commercially minded and proactive approach
• Experience within rural, land, estate or development planning would be advantageous, although applications from planners with a broader consultancy background will also be considered.
