Javelin Global Commodities in London is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join our London-based technology team and help shape the systems at the heart of a fast-moving global commodities business.

Sitting at the intersection of commodities trading and technology, this hands-on role offers the chance to work directly with traders, analysts and engineers. You will build and enhance practical software that supports trading, logistics, accounting and operations, with a focus on Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with at least 2 years embedded with users delivering production applications in financial services, commodities or comparable enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy software that supports commodities trading, risk management and market-data processing, working with traders and operators to turn business needs into solutions.
• Write clean, scalable and maintainable code, primarily in Python 3.
• Collaborate with traders and quantitative analysts to understand strategies and translate requirements into robust software.
• Enhance reliability, performance and usability of applications across trading and operational workflows.
• Own development tasks from concept to delivery and communicate progress clearly.
• Contribute to testing and software-development practices.
