Associate Software Engineer

Location: Remote (UK)
Type: Permanent

RS Group is seeking a passionate Associate Software Engineer to join our growing technology team. You will work closely with a collaborative team to develop and maintain microservices-based applications that support our global platforms.

From day one, you will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully—helping to build scalable, secure, and high-performing software systems. A proactive mindset, ownership mentality, and eagerness to learn are key to success in this role.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Collaborate with your team to build, support, and enhance microservices-based applications
  • Participate in agile development ceremonies and contribute to cross-functional initiatives
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues with accountability
  • Contribute to the development of high-quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions
  • Work with modern technologies in a cloud-first environment

About You

You are an enthusiastic engineer who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys solving real-world problems. Eager to learn, ask questions, and improve your skills and code, you value quality, reliability, and continuous delivery. You take pride in contributing to a supportive team environment.

What You Bring
  • At least 2 years of software development experience, preferably in agile settings
  • Strong foundation in modern programming languages, ideally Java
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native practices
  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud-first development
  • Effective communication skills for explaining technical concepts
  • Team-oriented with good rapport-building skills
  • Proactive ownership, especially in production support
  • Desire to grow in backend architecture, observability, and performance
Desirable Experience
  • Exposure to DevOps practices
  • Experience with performance testing and optimization
  • Knowledge of event-driven systems and distributed architecture
  • Familiarity with caching and API performance tuning
  • Experience with GraphQL and Auth0
  • Relevant certifications (AWS, Java, SAP modules)
