Job summary

STEMCELL Technologies is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join the Instrumentation UK engineering team. You will apply mechanical engineering principles to support R&D, design, testing, and continuous improvement of our cell-sorting instruments, working with a multidisciplinary team and mentors.

The role covers prototyping, testing, production support, and documentation within a controlled QMS, with opportunities for future product development and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with up to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on engineering experience as a subset of mechanics work.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) and solid engineering fundamentals.
• Motivated, collaborative, and able to work with mentorship from senior engineers.
• Basic programming familiarity (Python, MATLAB, or C++) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical Design & CAD using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) to develop components and drawings.
• Prototyping & testing: build and evaluate prototypes and test rigs for R&D and design verification.
• Production & sustaining support: assist manufacturing teams with assembly processes and design improvements.
• Problem solving & investigations: support root-cause investigations and robust solutions.
• Technical documentation: contribute to test protocols, work instructions, and QMS documentation.
• Future product development: provide ideas and design support for next-generation instruments.
