Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Group in Olney is seeking an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of the Traka and KEYper product portfolio. You will work with experienced engineers, contribute from concept to production, and engage in both new product development and continuous improvement projects.

You will gain hands-on experience with CAD, documentation, and manufacturing processes while collaborating within a flexible R&D model at the Olney office.

Qualifications

• Hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience using 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor, with involvement in design projects.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, injection moulding, extrusion, and die-casting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the development of mechanical design solutions for new and existing products, progressing concepts through to production release.
• Create and maintain CAD models and drawings, manage BOMs, and document designs using relevant software.
• Collaborate with hardware development and cross-functional teams to ensure robust, manufacturable and cost-effective designs.
• Contribute to value engineering and continuous improvement across the product portfolio.
• Build and test prototypes to validate designs and support product development.
