Job summary

Human Appeal in Manchester is seeking an Associate Manager (Student Societies & Schools) to develop and execute fundraising strategies, cultivate donor relationships, and coordinate campaigns within universities and student groups.

Working closely with the Fundraising Manager, you will lead events, manage communications, and help achieve annual fundraising targets through proactive planning, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English required; degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in a similar role with project and events management experience.
• Computer literate with MS Office, social media, donor management systems.
• Additional languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote and adhere to the fundraising code of conduct while coordinating FR events.
• Develop and nurture relationships with donors and partners nationally.
• Coordinate events, campaigns, and university student activities to raise funds.
• Establish regional and national communications between local organisations and Head Office.
• Manage fundraising projects such as dinners, concerts, and speaker tours.
• Support FR colleagues during peak periods and share information across teams.

Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Associate Manager (Student Societies & Schools) to join our team based in Manchester. The role will be worked on a full-time basis in the Office. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of a fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. As Associate Manager (Student Societies & Schools), the Associate Manager supports the development and execution of fundraising strategies to secure financial resources that advance the organisation’s mission. Working closely with the Fundraising Manager and wider team, this role helps cultivate donor relationships, coordinate fundraising campaigns and events in universities and student societies, and manages communications. The Associate Manager plays a key role in ensuring fundraising targets are met through effective planning, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven decision-making.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Associate Manager (Student Societies & Schools)

• Promote and wholly adhere to the fundraising code of conduct and best practice by understanding its ruling and conducting FR events within its parameters in order to safeguard HA, maintain high professional standards and maintain HA’s public image.
• Develop, nurture and maintain relationships with current/potential donors, charity partners, organizations and businesses nationally, via community networking (face to face and social media) and creating a regular presence within respected regions across the UK, in order to establish trust, help secure donations and promote awareness across a wide range of target markets.
• Establish clear lines of communications both regionally and nationally by being the main point of contact between local organisations and HA. This will involve negotiating agreements, generating leads, coordinating events, providing assistance/HA branding materials and liaising centrally with the Head Office Fundraising Department, in order to improve interdepartmental efficiency, maximize fundraising potential, and ensure value for money.
• Manage various engaging fundraising projects/activities by arranging dinners, concerts, speaker tours and conferences to capture and maintain the public eye throughout the year and raise income with a return on investment.
• Manage and nurture a network of national volunteers in line with the volunteer recruitment strategy by collaborating with the volunteers coordinator, hosting recruitment events, providing training and HA materials, developing FR ambassadors and providing formal feedback to the Volunteers Coordinator. To help develop volunteer recruitment process, provide a mutually beneficial volunteers program, and support HA to gain loyal organizational man power.
• Provide support to FR colleagues when necessary by attending and contributing positively to FR regional/national meetings, understanding support needs and providing this to colleagues especially during peak periods (e.g Ramadan). To help promote information sharing, generation of leads and innovative ideas, help distribute manpower and ensure smooth running of FR operations and good working relations.

What we’re looking for in our Associate Manager (Student Societies & Schools)

• Education - Minimum GCSE Mathematics, English. Ideally educated to degree level.
• Experience - Minimum of 2 years in similar post, proven track record of project and events management with a minimum of 2 years experience.
• Essential Criteria - Computer literate and competent with Microsoft Office, Social Media, Donor Management systems. English Language Essebtial.
• Desirable Criteria - Knowledge of additional languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Gujrati, Hindi, Punjabi an advantage.
