Job summary

Human Appeal in the UK is seeking a proactive Programmes Coordinator based at our office in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The role focuses on overseeing country office operations, managing portfolios, and supporting field partners to maximise impact.

You will design, implement and report on programmes aligned with SDGs, contribute to strategy, manage grants, and coordinate with HQ. The ideal candidate has NGO experience, strong English, and a collaborative approach to delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in social science/international development or related field
  • Minimum 3 years experience with NGOs
  • Fluent written and spoken English (essential)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee up-to-date overview of operational matters across field offices and manage country programmes
  • Work with Country Directors to provide management and oversight of field offices and guide staff and operations
  • Develop capacity of the Programmes department and contribute to strategy development at global, regional and country levels
  • Provide technical support in programme development with knowledge of SDGs and current development trends
  • Provide grant management support to field offices including proposal writing and budget/narrative reporting
  • Coordinate between HQ funding/partnership unit and field offices for efficient project management
  • Ensure delivery of projects through monitoring and evaluation, resource allocation, and effective staff supervision

Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Programmes Coordinator to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The role will be worked on a full-time basis in the Office. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of a permanent contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary.

As Programmes Coordinator, to provide oversight of and support to allocated country offices in all operational and financial matters as well as lead on the portfolio management of Human Appeal’s programmatic activities with field offices and local partners across the region. Lead on the designing, implementation and reporting of effective programmes, according to country and regional strategies. To contribute to strategy development and provide support in aligning and shaping organisational and strategic decisions and goals.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Programmes Coordinator:

  • -To ensure an up-to-date overview of operational matters across field offices (FO) and effectively manage all country programmes in a highly organised and systematic manner

  • -Work closely with Country Directors to provide management and oversight of the FO and to provide guidance and direction for staff and operations in order to develop FO and strengthen and maximise impact of programmes.

  • -To develop the capacity of the Programmes department, contribute to strategy development at a global, regional and country level, and provide support in aligning and shaping organisational and strategic decisions and goals

  • -Bring understanding and knowledge of current development trends, SDGs and learning from other programmes in order to provide technical support in programme development, and develop own expertise through continuous personal development

  • -To provide grant management support to FOs/LPs including proposal writing and budget and narrative reporting for donor accountability

  • -To be the liaison between the institutional funding and strategic partnerships unit at HQ and the FO’s/LPs for efficient project management

  • -To take responsibility for project management in the allocated countries by working closely and supporting staff in the field/partner offices to ensure appropriate resource allocation (both financial and human) and successful delivery of all projects including large and/or complex ones

  • -To ensure the successful delivery of projects through effective monitoring of projects, appropriate management of field staff, and clear evaluation to measure effectiveness of interventions for evidence-based learning and to design new projects

What we’re looking for in our Programmes Coordinator:

  • Education - Bachelor degree in social science/international development or any related field
  • Experience - Minimum 3 years experience with NGOs
  • Essential Criteria - MS Office Suite, Fluent written and spoken English
  • Desirable Criteria - Relevant Master's degree preferred, Additional Langauges such as Arabic, Urdu.
