Job summary

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Sutton-in-Ashfield is seeking an Associate Healthcare Scientist – Medical Engineering. The role is Band 4, full-time 37.5 hours per week, with weekend work on flexible basis.

You will join a dynamic MEMD team delivering maintenance, testing and support for clinical devices, including resuscitation trolley equipment and equipment library operations. Applicants should have Level 4 qualification in Electrical/Mechanical/Medical Engineering, and

Qualifications

• Level 4 qualification in Electrical/Mechanical/Medical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining and repairing a range of medical electrical/electronic/mechanical devices.
• Experience working within a Healthcare Environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM), servicing, inspection and repair on a range of non-complex to moderately complex medical devices
• Perform routine fault-finding, using appropriate diagnostic techniques to identify and resolve issues
• Support the safe condemnation and disposal of medical devices
• Conduct acceptance testing for new and loaned equipment before clinical use
• Assist with the rollout of newly accepted devices into clinical areas
• Contribute to Trust-wide resuscitation equipment schemes to ensure readiness and compliance

Knowledge Requirements

• Contribute to the Clinical Engineering services of MEMD including planned maintenance, repair, acceptance and condemnation

Qualifications

• Level 4 qualification e.g. HNC/D in Electrical/Mechanical/Medical Engineering or equivalent. Candidates with the lower qualification would be taken on via Annex 21 in a training role to reach this minimum level

Further Training

• Additional Knowledge achieved through attendance of manufacturer’s training courses for non-complex and moderately complex medical devices

Experience

• Experience of maintenance and repairs of a comprehensive range of complex and moderately complex medical electrical/electronic/mechanical devices
• Experience working within Healthcare Environment
