Job summary

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Associate Healthcare Scientist – Medical Engineering to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team at Kings Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield. You will perform preventive maintenance, fault finding, and testing on complex devices, contributing to a high‑quality patient service.

Qualifications

• Level 4 qualification in Electrical/Mechanical/Medical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining and repairing medical devices in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and perform routine diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance, servicing, inspection and repair on a range of medical devices.
• Perform routine fault-finding and use diagnostic techniques to identify and resolve issues.
• Support safe condemnation and disposal of medical devices.
• Conduct acceptance testing for new and loaned equipment before clinical use.

Knowledge Requirements

• Contribute to the Clinical Engineering services of MEMD including planned maintenance, repair, acceptance and condemnation
• Knowledge and Skills applied to medical equipment will include

Qualifications

• Level 4 qualification e.g. HNC/D in Electrical/Mechanical/Medical Engineering or equivalent. Candidates with the lower qualification would be taken on via Annex 21 in a training role to reach this minimum level

Further Training

• Additional Knowledge achieved through attendance of manufacturer’s training courses for non-complex and moderately complex medical devices

Experience

• Experience of maintenance and repairs of a comprehensive range of complex and moderately complex medical electrical/electronic/mechanical devices
• Experience working within Healthcare Environment
