Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking an Associate Ecologist to lead and influence across project delivery and team leadership. You will mentor junior ecologists, manage workload with senior leadership, and help shape best practices in UK ecology while delivering high-quality environmental assessments.

The role offers exposure to major UK projects, a supportive culture with training, and opportunities to develop consultancy skills within a collaborative ecology team.

Qualifications

• Experience across UK habitats and protected species with survey licences or permissions.
• Proven track record of supporting clients from survey design to pragmatic mitigation and on-site supervision.
• Experience delivering Ecological Impact Assessments and writing ES chapters.
• Knowledge of Habitats Regulations Assessment.
• Success in winning work with commercial clients in residential, mixed-use, and industrial sectors.
• Mentorship and leadership to develop ecologists of all grades.

Responsibilities

• Lead ecological projects and guide junior colleagues, maintaining high technical standards.
• Champion Health, Safety & Wellbeing culture and foster a positive working environment.
• Collaborate with Regional Director and Team Leader to manage workload and resources.
• Generate new opportunities and prepare tenders while overseeing ecological workstreams (technical, commercial, financial).
• Provide site and office support, mentoring and developing the team’s skills.
