Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Ecologist in Manchester to lead projects and mentor junior staff. You will work across habitats, protected species and biodiversity, contributing to bids, and ensuring delivery meets technical and commercial standards.

You will be part of a supportive team with career progression, flexible working, and exposure to major UK and international projects, while prioritising health, safety and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience across UK habitats and protected species, with survey or mitigation licences.
• Proven track record in supporting clients from survey programmes to mitigation and regulatory support.

Responsibilities

• Lead project delivery and team leadership as Associate Ecologist.
• Mentor junior ecologists and contribute to a high performing team environment.
• Generate new opportunities, prepare tenders, and oversee ecological workstreams (technical, commercial, financial).
• Provide site and office support to ensure high technical standards and safe working practices.
