Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced ecologist to join the expanding Ecology team. You will support a wide range of UK habitats, manage surveys, and help deliver ecological deliverables for varied projects.

The role offers hybrid working with two days per week from home and opportunities for mentoring, professional development, and Chartered status support. A collaborative, inclusive culture drives our projects forward.

Qualifications

• Experience across UK habitats and protected species with survey/mitigation licences.
• Proven ability to design survey programmes, develop pragmatic mitigation, and supervise on-site implementation.
• Experience in ecological impact assessment and Environmental Statement chapters.
• Experience of Habitats Regulations Assessment.
• Proven track record winning work from commercial clients (residential, mixed use, industrial).
• Desire to lead and mentor ecologists at all levels within WSP.

Responsibilities

• Embrace Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture and create a safe workplace.
• Collaborate with Regional Director and Team Leader to manage workload and quality.
• Generate opportunities, prepare tenders and oversee ecological deliverables for clients' projects.
• Provide site/office support to develop and mentor junior team members.
