Associate Director of Town Planning

Location: Manchester

My client, a highly respected and growing consultancy, is establishing a new office in Manchester and is seeking an Associate Director to guide its successful launch and ongoing development. This role offers strategic leadership, operational oversight, and the chance to be instrumental in a major regional expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Office Setup:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for launching the new office, managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Oversee premises selection, office fit-out, and operational readiness.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Stakeholder & Team Management:

  • Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the consultancy at regional events and develop networks within the local business community.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of the Manchester team, fostering a collaborative culture aligned with company values.

Planning & Client Services:

  • Manage and respond to planning enquiries, delivering the full range of planning and development services.
  • Prepare fee proposals, appraisals, applications, appeals, and policy advice.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through high-quality project delivery.

About You:

  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and stakeholder management.
  • Proven leadership in setting up or expanding operational units.
  • MRTPI qualification (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of planning legislation and development processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with the Manchester planning environment is a significant advantage.
