The Estates Hard FM Team is responsible for the day-to-day repairs, PPM, and operational testing of a wide range of building services and equipment within the Trust.
We are seeking a highly motivated and flexible Head of Estates to manage the PFI Estate at the Royal London Hospital site, providing comprehensive operational maintenance services across the Trust and its associated properties.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with a positive attitude, possessing a thorough understanding of the latest Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs), current ACOPs, BS & EN standards, and SFG20 Standard Maintenance Specifications relevant to managing Building Services in a healthcare environment.
Experience in managing statutory compliance within NHS premises is essential, including water hygiene, electrical systems, asbestos and fire management, medical gases, and HVAC systems.
You should have proven managerial skills in maintenance and contractor management, with the ability to communicate complex issues effectively to clinical and non-clinical senior management. Excellent communication skills are essential.
An understanding of financial management within an NHS setting and experience managing delegated budgets are required.
The role involves participation in an on-call rota, including out-of-hours work.
Reporting to the Director of Estates and Facilities, the post-holder will provide technical operational leadership and strategic direction for engineering and infrastructure activities, including fire safety, across acute and community sites. They will oversee capital projects and backlog programs, ensuring technical standards, engineering excellence, and patient safety are prioritized, in compliance with statutory and non-statutory requirements, HTM/HBN standards, and supported by a framework of Authorised Engineers, Persons, and Certified Persons.
