Job description

Interim Head of Estates and Facilities

  • Job Type: Full-time, Interim - 3 Months initially
  • Location: Bournemouth
  • Salary: 28.00 per hour (PAYE basis)

We are seeking an Interim Head of Estates and Facilities to lead the organisation and operation of the Organisations Estates team. This role is crucial in ensuring that the estate is managed efficiently and operates effectively for all users, supporting the strategic aims of the Organisation. The successful candidate will be the client representative for projects and the recognised authority on areas provided by the Estates & Facilities Service.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the Facilities team, ensuring that agreed policies are implemented and that the team delivers excellent service to stakeholders, staff, and visitors.
  • Manage the estate efficiently to ensure it operates effectively for all users, including liaising with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as the client representative for projects, ensuring the physical environment supports the aims of the Organisation.
  • Serve as the recognised authority and source of expertise on areas provided by Estates & Facilities Services, providing advice and support in accordance with the Strategic Framework.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Specialist knowledge in estates management, health and safety management, COSSH regulations, carbon management and sustainability, and relevant legislation.
  • Strong and effective leadership and management skills.
  • Qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Subject-related qualification or professional membership accreditation or equivalent experience.
  • Awareness of key challenges within the Higher Education sector, particularly in estates management, sustainability, and health and safety.
