Job summary

Matchtech Group in London is seeking an Associate or Associate Director to join its Highways and Infrastructure team. The role focuses on S278 highway works, adoptable highway design, drainage infrastructure and development-related projects across the UK and internationally.

The position is permanent with hybrid working and requires attendance at the London office at least three days per week. You will lead projects, manage client relationships and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in development infrastructure and highways design.
• Strong knowledge of Section 278 design and approval processes.
• Experience in adoptable highway design and development-related infrastructure.
• Experience managing projects, budgets, programmes and multidisciplinary teams.
• Good understanding of consultancy commercial aspects and profitability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients and authorities.
• Ability to lead and develop junior team members.
• Degree in Civil Engineering with Chartered status or working towards it.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of Section 278 schemes and associated infrastructure.
• Oversee surface water and foul drainage strategies and detailed design.
• Manage technical approvals and liaise with authorities and clients.
• Act as Project Manager for programmes, budgets, and profitability.
• Prepare submissions, reports, drawings, specifications and fee proposals.
• Coordinate teams, delegate work, and ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers.
• Build client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
