Job summary

HD Surveyors Ltd. is seeking an Associate Building Surveyor to lead commercial Building Surveying instructions across the Midlands. Responsibilities

• Manage and develop commercial Building Surveying fee income across the Midlands.
• Take ownership of professional and project-led instructions from appointment through to completion.
• Manage relationships with investors, developers, landlords and occupiers.
• Lead dilapidations instructions for landlord and tenant clients.
• Deliver technical due diligence for acquisitions and refinancing.
• Lead refurbishment and fit-out projects.
• Undertake Contract Administration, Employer’s Agent and Project Management duties.
• Advise clients on technical, contractual and commercial risk.
• Review technical reports and project outputs.
• Manage key client accounts and identify opportunities for repeat instructions.
• Contribute to fee generation and regional business development.
• Coordinate Building Surveying input with Project Management, Cost Consultancy, M&E and Fire Engineering disciplines.
• Oversee and mentor graduate and junior surveyors.
• Support APC development.

Overview

Associate Building Surveyor position within a multidisciplinary property consultancy, leading commercial Building Surveying instructions across the Midlands. The workload covers professional and project services for investors, developers, landlords and occupiers. The role combines instruction ownership, client management, fee contribution and oversight of junior surveyors. Hybrid working is available. Permanent, full-time position.

The Role

About the Consultancy

A multidisciplinary property consultancy advising commercial property investors, developers, landlords and occupiers. Services include Building Surveying, Project Management, Cost Consultancy, M&E and Fire Engineering across professional and project-led instructions. The Birmingham office has been established as part of continued regional expansion, creating a requirement for associate-level Building Surveying capability to support client development, fee growth and team capacity.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline
• MRICS essential
• Consultancy experience within commercial Building Surveying
• Experience managing professional and project instructions
• Strong exposure to dilapidations and technical due diligence
• Contract Administration experience across refurbishment and fit-out projects
• Working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
• Experience managing direct client relationships
• Evidence of fee contribution and repeat instruction development
• Ability to advise clients on technical, contractual and commercial risk
• Experience reviewing the work of junior surveyors
• Experience mentoring graduates or APC candidates
• Full UK driving licence
