Job summary

Starr operates ERS Syndicate 218 at Lloyds and is recruiting an Assistant Underwriter for its Swansea, South Wales contact centre. You will help assess policy risk, gather key information, and work with experienced colleagues to support decisions on new business and policy changes.

You will need a keen eye for detail, be computer‑literate with MS Office, and maintain a high standard of customer service while meeting performance targets in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• A keen eye for detail and high level of accuracy.
• Computer literate with ability to use MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Process new business quotes, renewals, mid-term amendments and cancellations within authority.
• Liaise with Underwriters for support on risks outside standard authority.
• Strive for accuracy first time to aid clients in choosing ERS as their insurer.
• Meet personal performance targets and support ERS business plans.
• Identify potential fraudulent activity and refer to Policy Validation Unit.
• Adhere to regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.
• Pursue learning and development to maximise performance.
• Demonstrate behaviours expected in ERS high‑performance culture.
