Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter in our Marine & Energy Liability team within our Marine, Energy & Aviation Global Markets business.

Our team, with extensive experience across all key sectors of the Marine and Energy markets, offers a range of insurance solutions for Marine and Energy businesses.

Based in London, our team underwrites complex and diverse risks globally in a pragmatic and consistent manner, aiming to forge long-term, sustainable partnerships. Backed by Sompo International’s strong financial position, we provide significant capacity, supported by risk engineering, energy claims handling, and underwriting through our platforms in the UK and Continental Europe.

Location: This role is based in our London office at Minster Court. We will relocate to 40 Leadenhall Street in January 2026. We foster a collaborative environment where our employees can thrive and develop long-lasting careers.

What you’ll be doing:

• Support underwriters from risk submission through to binding, across all underwriting stages.
• Assist with underwriting administration and processing to ensure efficient workflow.
• Respond promptly and professionally to mid-term questions from brokers and internal stakeholders, delivering first-class service within authority limits.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with brokers and external partners.
• Maintain accurate risk, exposure, and premium data in policy administration systems.
• Support underwriting, actuarial, and modeling activities, including pricing models and Natural Catastrophe modeling.
• Provide support for event planning, presentations, and meetings for underwriters.
• Participate in corporate entertaining of brokers and clients.
• Assist in preparing financial and other analyses to support the underwriting team.
