Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an Assistant Transport Planner for the Highway Development Management Team at County Hall, Leicester. The role focuses on providing highway development management advice and documenting transport input across development stages.

You will assist with pre-application enquiries, planning applications, and appeals, negotiating mitigation and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver accessible transport solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience of interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports.
• Experience of conducting packages of transport analysis or assessment work.
• Knowledge of the planning process as it relates to highways and transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide highway development management advice to ensure effective transport assessment and input throughout the development process.
• Assist with provision of effective transport input on pre-application enquiries, outline planning applications, reserved matters applications and planning appeals.
• Engage in negotiation to secure highways and transportation mitigation for development proposals including through Section 106 discussions.
• Support partnerships and working relationships with statutory, voluntary, private agencies and communities.
