Job summary

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA is seeking an Assistant to Import TDM in Ipswich. The role focuses on data handling, reporting, and liaising with overseas offices to support the Import North Med trade.

You will work closely with the Trade Manager to drive process improvements and commercial growth. The successful candidate will have strong IT skills, be highly organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

Assistant to Import TDM

Full time, permanent

We are looking for an Assistant to the Import TDM who is highly organised, detail-oriented and confident working with data and reporting. You will support the management and development of the Import North Med trade by liaising with overseas offices, monitoring cargo movements, producing reports, and helping to drive process improvements. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.

How you will help us and what you can expect

• Understanding and research of the market to support decision making and commercial growth
• Analysing performance and providing feedback on this to the Trade Manager
• Establish & maintain good client relationships
• Maintain special rates & contracts as well as Geneva tariffs
• Use in-house systems such as Flint, Avery, TMS, Link & the One Vision Platform (OVQ, CRM, OVParty)
• Client & Geneva visit preparation
• Assist with day-to-day quotations as well as tenders
• Query handling & resolution
• Support the Trade Development Manager as required on an ongoing basis
• Provide any other support when required

• Strong IT skills especially in the Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word & PowerBI programmes
• To be organised & have a methodical approach to work to ensure accuracy of reporting along with ensuring that all strict deadlines are met
• Strong analytical skills & to be able to present data & information to create strategies or market understanding for the client base with a results driven approach
• Be able to work on their own initiative & problem solve independently
• A balanced understanding of operational & commercial demands
• Confidence to make appropriate fact-based decisions, be professional, willing to help & enabled to provide effective communication with both internal & external customers
• Be a team player with a flexible can-do approach to work
