Job description

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Surveyor to join our Damp & Mould team in Birmingham.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

1. Inspecting properties where damp and mould are suspected
2. Assessing associated risks
3. Collecting evidence using specialist meters and equipment
4. Compiling thorough reports with recommendations for remedial action

This is a 6-month secondment opportunity with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.

The Customer

You will be part of one of Fortem’s largest Social Housing contracts, Birmingham City Council. This expanding £50m Repairs & Maintenance, Capital Works, and Retrofit contract is the largest social housing contract in Europe, managing over 22,500 properties including low, medium, and high-rise blocks. This fast-paced and focused contract has been re-awarded three times, reflecting our commitment and success.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Surveyor will:

• Inspect jobs where damp and mould are suspected
• Assess risks
• Gather evidence using measuring equipment and specialist meters, including taking photographs
• Prepare recommendations for remedial actions
• Create detailed reports
• Update records and systems
• Communicate effectively with clients, customers, and internal teams

What You Will Need

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Operational experience working with damp & mould
• Experience in report writing
• Experience working directly in customers’ homes
• Experience with testing equipment and meters
