Job summary

Willen Hospice is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager to support the Shop Manager in the daily operation of the Oxley Park shop for a fixed term of 9 months. You will lead volunteers, ensure excellent customer service, manage stock and cash, and work across shifts including weekends.

The role involves overseeing rotas, training volunteers, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and security policies while promoting the charity's fundraising initiatives locally.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail environment, ideally in a supervisory or team leader role.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to recruit, train and coordinate volunteers.
• Comfort handling money and stock; good organisation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operation and performance to meet sales targets and KPIs.
• Support stock processing, pricing, merchandising and shop presentation.
• Supervise volunteers, recruitment, training and coordination.
• Manage rotas and daily tasks with Shop Manager.
• Handle cash, banking and financial records according to charity procedures.
• Open/close shop as key holder during Manager's absence.
• Ensure health, safety and security policies are followed.
• Promote charity values and fundraising initiatives locally.
