Job summary

Willen Hospice is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager to support the Shop Manager at the Oxley Park shop for a fixed-term of 9 months. This role combines retail operations with volunteer leadership, focusing on delivering strong sales and excellent service in a community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail environment, ideally in a supervisory or team-leading role.
• Friendly, approachable and able to motivate a team.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Organised and confident handling money, stock and shop operations.
• A team player who thrives in a fast-paced, varied environment.
• Be physically fit to move and handle stock safely.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily shop operations to meet sales targets and KPIs.
• Support stock processing, pricing, merchandising and shop cleanliness.
• Provide high standard customer service at all times.
• Supervise volunteers including recruitment, training and coordination.
• Manage rotas and delegate tasks with the Shop Manager.
• Handle cash, banking and financial records per charity procedures.
• Open/close the shop as key holder and oversee operations in absence of the Manager.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and security policies.
• Promote Willen Hospice values and fundraising in the community.
