Job summary

British Red Cross Greenwich shop is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager to join a friendly charity shop team. You will work closely with the shop manager to run a profitable, customer‑focussed operation and to oversee volunteers, ensuring an excellent in‑store experience.

This permanent role is 14 hours per week with flexible working options in London and ILW for London living, offering development opportunities and a supportive environment that helps communities across the UK.

Qualifications

• Retail experience in a shop environment.
• Ability to deliver excellent customer experience.
• Experience supervising volunteers or a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the shop manager to run a profitable, customer-focused shop.
• Oversee and develop volunteers, delivering induction and ongoing support.

What will a day in the life of a Assistant Shop Managerinvolve?

• Collaborating with the shop manager to run a profitable, customer-focussed shop that is the 'window of the British Red Cross' on the high street.
• Working on the shop floor, to coordinating activity “behind the scenes”, no two days are the same.
• Fostering a brilliant shopping environment and provide an excellent customer experience in store.
• Working collaboratively with the shop manager, you’ll oversee a team of dedicated volunteers, delivering their induction, management, and development.

To be a successful Assistant Shop Manager, what will you need?

• To be retail superstar with the experience and know-how from working in a shop environment.
• The traits of apeople-person, who enjoys providing an excellent customer experience, championing a team, and meeting people from all walks of life.
• The mind of a commercially savvy individual, who has good awareness of financial targets and measures, alongside proven IT skills.
• The ability to workflexibly to the needs of the store.
