Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an Assistant SENCO for a welcoming school in Maidstone. The role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND professional to take on additional responsibility within a mainstream school environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO and pastoral teams to ensure pupils with SEND access the curriculum and have appropriate support. A strong focus on safeguarding and effective communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with pupils with SEND.
• Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Assistant SENCO.
• Good understanding of SEND processes and inclusive education.
• Knowledge of EHCPs, SEN support plans and pupil interventions would be advantageous.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff and external professionals.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• A relevant qualification or experience within education or SEND.
• Commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
• Legal ability to work within the UK.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the SENCO and wider pastoral and teaching teams to ensure pupils with SEND receive appropriate support and curriculum access.
• Identify barriers to learning, monitor pupil progress and help staff implement effective strategies.
• Contribute to monitoring and review of SEN provision and support the implementation of individual plans.
• Coordinate appropriate interventions and liaise with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Demonstrate safeguarding, inclusion and strong communication in daily practice.
