Job summary

Smart Teachers are currently recruiting for an Assistant SENCO to join an Outstanding SEMH specialist provision in West London. The role involves supporting the SENCO with day-to-day SEND coordination and ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with additional needs.

We are seeking an experienced SEND professional who can contribute to EHCP planning, develop strategies with staff, liaise with families and external agencies, and help monitor the impact of interventions.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of SEND and SEMH is essential.
• Experience in SEND/S SEMH settings or specialist provision.
• Previous SENCO support or SEND provision leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the SENCO with identification and assessment of pupils with additional needs.
• Monitor and review EHCP provision and ensure recommendations are followed.
• Work with teachers to develop strategies and interventions.
• Support staff with SEND, behaviour, and individual pupil needs.
• Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals as appropriate.
• Collaborate with Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists and others.
• Help monitor pupil progress and effectiveness of interventions.
• Support development and implementation of individualised support plans.

Assistant SENCO - SEMH Specialist Provision

Smart Teachers are currently recruiting for an Assistant SENCO to join an Outstanding SEMH specialist provision in West London.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who is looking to take the next step in their career and play an important role in supporting the provision of high-quality SEND education.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO and wider leadership team, helping to ensure pupils with additional needs receive the right support, interventions and provision to make progress.

About the Role

The provision supports pupils with a range of SEMH and additional SEND needs, including Autism, communication difficulties and behavioural needs. The environment is highly supportive and places a strong emphasis on understanding each pupil as an individual.

As Assistant SENCO, you'll support the SENCO with the day-to-day coordination of SEND provision across the setting. This will include:

• Supporting the SENCO with the identification and assessment of pupils with additional needs
• Helping to monitor and review EHCP provision, ensuring outcomes and recommendations are being followed
• Working closely with teachers and support staff to develop appropriate strategies and interventions
• Supporting staff with advice around SEND, behaviour and individual pupil needs
• Liaising with parents, carers and external professionals where appropriate
• Working alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists and other agencies
• Helping to monitor pupil progress and the effectiveness of interventions
• Supporting the development and implementation of individualised support plans

We're looking for someone who has a strong understanding of SEND and SEMH and is confident working with pupils who may present with complex needs and challenging behaviour.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience working within a SEND, SEMH, specialist or alternative provision
• Previous experience supporting a SENCO or leading aspects of SEND provision
• A good understanding of EHCPs, SEND support and graduated approaches
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism and/or SEMH needs
• Strong communication and organisational skills
