Job Title: Assistant School Cook

Location: Ryecroft School, Walsall, West Midlands WS2 7BH

Salary: £20,000.00 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.00pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

About The Role: To support the Catering Manager/School Cook by performing a variety of tasks in all areas of the kitchen, including food prep, cleaning, and serving, ensuring high standards of hygiene and food quality.

Responsibilities & Key Tasks:

• Cleaning all kitchen areas, equipment, and fabric; maintaining cleanliness of servery and dining areas.
• Reporting equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Preparing and serving food/meals across all sites.
• Setting up service and dining areas.
• Rotating stock supplies and updating the Catering Manager on requirements.
• Supporting additional hours for functions or staff absence, as needed.
• Transporting food and equipment between sites.
• Lifting equipment and loading dishwashers.
• Emptying bins and managing waste.
• Using kitchen resources such as the basement dishwasher.

Qualifications:

• Food Hygiene certification (preferable)
• Experience in a kitchen, food preparation, and school setting.
