Job summary

Kier Group's Bridgwater Tidal Barrier project seeks an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the SCF Commercial Team in Bridgwater. You will support commercial and contractual management across subcontract packages, cost control, payment processes and change management on a major infrastructure contract.

You'll gain hands-on project experience with structured development and support, working in a collaborative environment to deliver accurate records and timely applications for payment.

Qualifications

• Good numeracy skills and basic understanding of cost management and commercial record keeping.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to maintain records across multiple packages.
• Competent in Excel and Microsoft 365; willingness to learn project systems.
• Able to organise workload, meet monthly deadlines and communicate clearly with teams.
• Collaborative, proactive approach and take ownership while seeking guidance when needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial management of subcontract packages, including payment assessments, maintaining clear records and assisting with certification
• Assist with monthly applications for payment, cost allocation and cost-to-complete forecasting
• Support the identification and assessment of compensation events, including gathering records and preparing quotations
• Contribute to procurement activities, including tender reviews, comparisons and preparation of subcontract documentation
• Collaborate with engineering, planning, delivery and project controls teams to maintain accurate and current commercial records
