SummaryA Principal Contractor, operating throughout England and Wales, delivering multi-disciplinary buildings and civil engineering projects for Network Rail is excited to offer an opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
You'll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and insights from senior leadership, including the Commercial Director.
You'll also have the chance to work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, providing direct support.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:- Price variations / technical queries to contracted works
- Liaise with delivery team regarding works executed
- Analyse cost reports
- Assist in producing final accounts
- Negotiate and agree final accounts with Client
- Compile cost-value reconciliations
- Submit periodic valuations
- Assessing sub-contractors claims
- Contribute to monthly commercial meetings
- Submit periodic applications for payment
- Assist with and help produce commercial reports for the Board of Directors
- Assist with all change control processes
- Work with supply chain for procurement of suppliers and S/C
- Assist with tenders
- Comply with and promote the company safety policy
- Any other duties may reasonably be required
Person Specification
Essential:
- HND/HNC
- Strong IT Skills, especially with Microsoft packages and easily able to learn to use new software
- Ability to manage a fast-paced environment, with a high-volume workload
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong Numeracy skills
- Ability to work methodically, using own initiative and unsupervised
Desirable:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
- Experience in similar role, within a contracting environment
