Building Careers UK in Warrington is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team on major residential and high-rise projects from pre-construction through final account.
You will assist with valuations, applications for payment, variations, and cost forecasting, while developing relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers. A QS qualification or working towards one is preferred, with strong Excel and numerical skills.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with the wider commercial team, gaining exposure to major residential and high-rise projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Quantity Surveying team with the commercial management of projects
Assisting with valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts
Supporting the preparation of CVRs, cost reports, and financial forecasts
Assisting with subcontract procurement and account management
Reviewing project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
Working closely with site and project teams to monitor project performance
Assisting with contract administration and commercial reporting
Supporting the senior commercial team throughout the project lifecycle
Developing strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
The successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will have:
Previous experience within a construction or Quantity Surveying environment
Ideally some experience within residential construction
A Quantity Surveying or construction-related qualification, or be working towards one
Good understanding of construction costs and commercial processes
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Strong Microsoft Excel and IT skills
A proactive attitude with a desire to progress within the commercial function
