Job summary

Curve Recruitment are partnering with a respected main contractor in South Cambridge to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. You will support cost reporting, procurement, and commercial administration on projects from pre-construction to final account.

Based in Cambridge (South), this role offers structured training, clear progression, a competitive salary of £40,000 - £45,000 and a company package within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified or working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying.
• Strong numerical, organisational and communication skills.
• Good understanding of construction processes and commercial principles.
• Knowledge of JCT contracts advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the commercial management of construction projects from pre-construction through to final account
• Assisting with cost reporting, forecasting and monthly valuations
• Managing subcontractor procurement and account administration
• Supporting the preparation and agreement of variations
• Maintaining commercial records, cost trackers and procurement schedules
• Attending site visits and project meetings
• Assisting with contract administration under JCT forms of contract
• Working closely with Project Managers and Senior Quantity Surveyors to ensure projects remain commercially successful

Performance Objectives

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the commercial management of construction projects from pre-construction through to final account

Person Specification

• Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying or commercial role in construction
• Degree qualified, or working towards a degree, in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Good understanding of construction processes and commercial principles
• Knowledge of JCT contracts would be advantageous
• Strong numerical, organisational and communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and standard IT systems
• Ambitious, proactive and keen to develop a long-term career in Quantity Surveying
• Full UK driving licence preferred
