Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Residential Developer

Location: Tonbridge, Kent

Salary: Region of £40,000 to £50,000p/a

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

I am representing a leading residential property developer based in Kent, with a focus on delivering high-quality homes across the South East. Our portfolio includes a mix of traditional housing schemes and contemporary developments.

They are seeking an experienced and driven Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. You will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of residential construction projects from land acquisition through to final handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare cost plans, budgets, and estimates during the pre-construction phase
• Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers, including tendering and contract negotiation
• Carry out monthly valuations, cost reporting, and final accounts
• Monitor project progress and advise on financial implications
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
• Ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations
• Collaborate with internal teams including planning, design, and construction

Requirements:

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a QS, ideally within residential development or housebuilding
• Strong knowledge of UK construction contracts, particularly JCT
• Proficient in cost management software (e.g., COINS, Causeway, Excel)
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and commercial acumen
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required
