The Company

A market-leading Principal Contractor with over 25 years of experience in delivering high-quality fittings and bespoke projects across the retail sector, working with major blue-chip retail clients. They are currently looking to expand their Commercial team.

The Role

Assistant Quantity Surveyor: Supporting the commercial team in delivering refit and refurbishment packages on retail projects nationwide, with project values ranging from £50k to £1m.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you must possess:

• At least 3 years' experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor or Fit-Out Contractor
• Strong knowledge of commercial and construction contracts such as JCT
• Preferred background in fit-out or commercial construction
• Knowledge of refit and refurbishment projects valued between £50k and £1m
• Good communication skills, able to interact effectively with various stakeholders
• Well-organized, proactive, capable of implementing procedures and managing all aspects of the works
• Commercial acumen and negotiation skills with different parties

Duties

Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

• Submitting interim payment applications
• Preparing monthly cost and value reconciliation reports and project cost control
• Assisting with all commercial aspects of assigned projects
• Preparing and submitting interim valuations
• Managing and valuing variations
• Attending meetings to agree final accounts
• Post-contract liaison with clients
• Negotiating and letting sub-contracts
• Managing contract costs and payments to sub-contractors
• Managing contractual documentation and understanding sub-contracts
• Placing sub-contract orders
