Job summary

Willmott Dixon is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our East London project, a residential and regeneration scheme. You will support the commercial team with procurement, budgeting and value engineering, ensuring on-time payments and contract compliance.

The role requires reviewing drawings, cost reports, and CVCs, maintaining strong supplier relations, and contributing to cost control across JCT/NEC contracts. A construction-related degree and a valid driving licence are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Assistant/Quantity Surveyor in commercial construction.
• Strong procurement and cost management background.
• Excellent financial and contractual awareness.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications.
• Valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivering projects within budget and quality targets.
• Collaborate with project team and senior commercial staff to meet budget targets.
• Value, certify and issue payment notices for supply chain partners.
• Procure work packages from approved supply chain partners.
• Ensure external valuations are submitted on time and payments received by due date.
• Prepare cost value comparison (CVC) reports reflecting site position and final projections.
• Identify potential disputes early and support resolution.

We are looking for a Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the Willmott Dixon team on an exciting new project working in East London for a new residential and regeneration scheme that will transforms communities.

We’re looking for a confident communicator with strong procurement experience to provide commercial support on this exciting project within the leisure sector.

As a Assistant Quantity surveyor, the key responsibilities are:

• Ensure projects are delivered within budget and to the highest quality, exceeding customer expectations.
• Work closely with the project team and senior commercial staff to ensure budgeted targets are met.
• Establish strong working relationships with supply chain, consultants, and customers.
• Accurately value, certify, and issue payment notices for supply chain partners in accordance with contract arrangements.
• Manage the procurement of work packages from our proven supply chain partners in line with company standards and requirements.
• Ensure external valuations are submitted in accordance with conditions of the main contract and that payments are received by the due date.
• Complete cost value comparison (CVC) reports to accurately reflect the current position on site and the final projection.
• Identify any potential disputes in a timely manner and enable introduction of effective solutions.
• Proven experience as an Assistant/Quantity Surveyor in the commercial construction industry.
• Strong proficiency in MS Excel.
• Procurement and cost management experience.
• Excellent financial and contractual awareness.
• Ability to read and accurately interpret drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Valid driving licence.
• Construction-related degree.
• Knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
