Assistant Quantity Surveyor | Major Data Centre Project
£40,000 - £47,000 + Excellent Benefits Package
Hayes, West London
Data Centres | Mission Critical | Major Construction Projects
Walker & Sloan are working with an outstanding specialist contractor to recruit an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a major hyperscale data centre development in Hayes, West London.
Our client has established an exceptional reputation for delivering technically complex projects across the Data Centre, Defence and Energy sectors. With over 40 years of specialist experience, they continue to deliver landmark developments for some of the industry's most prestigious clients.
This opportunity will see you joining a flagship data centre development comprising 18 data halls, approximately 24MW of usable IT power, and extensive high-voltage electrical and energy infrastructure.
For an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to accelerate their career, this represents an outstanding opportunity to gain invaluable experience on one of London's most technically challenging construction projects.
As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll become an integral part of an experienced commercial team, supporting the successful financial and contractual delivery of a major mission-critical development.
Working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors, Commercial Managers and the wider project team, you'll gain exposure to the full commercial lifecycle, from procurement and subcontractor management through to cost reporting, valuations and final accounts.
You'll take increasing ownership of allocated work packages, assisting with cost value reconciliations, subcontractor payments, variations and commercial forecasting while ensuring accurate reporting and effective financial control.
Importantly, this isn't a role where you'll simply be supporting from the sidelines. You'll be encouraged to take responsibility, develop your commercial judgement and progressively manage your own packages as your experience grows.
You’ll have some experience working within a construction or project environment and be looking to take the next step in your commercial career.
Ideally, you’ll already be working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Junior Quantity Surveyor, with exposure to procurement, subcontractor administration, measurement or cost reporting.
You’ll be commercially aware, highly organised and eager to develop your technical knowledge while learning from an experienced team.
An HNC, HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline would be advantageous, although relevant industry experience will also be considered.
Previous data centre experience is not essential. We’re equally interested in ambitious individuals from main contracting, civil engineering, MEP or specialist subcontracting backgrounds who want to develop their careers within the rapidly growing mission-critical construction sector.
