Job summary

Bimplus is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a small, collaborative commercial team. You will work alongside an experienced QS, gaining hands-on exposure across live projects with a clear progression route toward becoming a Quantity Surveyor.

The role offers study support, a clear career path, and access to senior management within a CIOB Chartered firm known for high-quality residential and commercial work across the region.

Qualifications

• Some experience within a Quantity Surveying or construction environment.
• HNC, HND or degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline advantageous.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient using MS Excel and other MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with measuring and pricing works from drawings and specifications.
• Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities and interim valuations.
• Obtain subcontractor and supplier quotations and assist with tender comparisons.
• Monitor project costs against budgets and identify cost variances.
• Assist with subcontractor accounts, final accounts and applications for payment.
• Maintain accurate cost records and commercial documentation.
• Liaise with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers on commercial matters.
• Support the commercial team throughout the pre-construction and construction phases.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements

• HNC, HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline is advantageous
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
• Good understanding of construction processes, cost control and commercial practices
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
• Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop within a commercial role
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle due to regular travel between the office and project sites
