We are offering an Assistant Quantity Surveyor position within a regional, luxury housebuilder. The hiring manager prefers a candidate with some onsite experience working for a developer or contractor, comfortable working on site, and engaging with clients and subcontractors as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Support senior commercial staff with contract documents, including bills of quantities with architects and clients;
• Assist in risk, value management, and cost control;
• Identify, analyze, and respond to commercial risks;
• Assist with valuing completed work and arranging payments;
• Maintain awareness of current building contracts;
• Understand health and safety regulations;
• Help prepare contracts, including material quantities;
• Visit sites, assess progress, and project future work;
• Analyze outcomes and prepare progress reports;

Skills:

• Strong numeracy and financial management skills, with the ability to learn sophisticated IT packages;
• Ability to write clear reports and communicate complex information simply;
• Negotiation, teamwork, and leadership skills;
• Knowledge of building technology, materials, processes, and legal matters;
• An industry-relevant ONC/HNC/BSc or equivalent, including part-time students;
• Experience on UK construction sites;
• Commercial and contractual awareness with a successful track record with reputable UK companies;
• Legal right to work in the UK;
