Job summary

Kier Group, via Kier Places, is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support on-site commercial delivery in Basingstoke. The role focuses on contract administration, measurement, cashflow management and maintaining relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers.

The position is primarily on site with a standard daytime schedule, and may involve flexible hours to meet project needs.

• Support development and management of commercial relationships with customers, contractors and subcontractors.
• Identify contractual, commercial and operational risks and propose mitigations.

Job description

We're looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Kier Places team based primarily on site.

Location: Basingstoke - Primarily site based
Hours: 08:00 – 17:00 (Flexible)

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a vital role in supporting the project team with all commercial matters. You'll assist in maximising planned gross margins on projects through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts, whilst supporting the assessment and mitigation of commercial and contractual risks.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the Kier Places team, supporting them in delivering excellent value to clients and achieving project profitability. Your day to day will include:

• Supporting the Quantity Surveyor with contract administration, including record keeping and liaising with site teams
• Assisting with the measurement and valuation of work to support invoicing of customers and payment to suppliers
• Helping to manage project cashflows and raising invoices to manage customer payments
• Supporting the development and management of commercial relationships with customers, contractors and subcontractors
• Recognising contractual, commercial and operational risks and proposing ways to mitigate them
