Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Clifton in the UK is seeking an Assistant Psychologist to support assessments, scoring and reporting, and to help plan, deliver and evaluate psychological programmes. The role is part-time (16 hours per week) with a Monday–Friday 09:00–17:00 window.

The post links to a low secure service for men with complex needs, offering opportunities for CPD and research involvement. Requirements include a Psychology degree (2:1+), BPS accreditation, and a Masters preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Psychology (2:1 or above) or equivalent.
• BPS Accredited by the British Psychological Society.
• Master’s degree in Psychology is preferable.
• Health care experience or Assistant Psychologist role is advantageous.

• Contributing to assessments, scoring and reporting (verbal / written).
• Clinical formulation and implementing care plans for psychological treatment.
• Planning, delivering and evaluating individual / group programmes.

Hours

This role will be part time, 16 hours (two days per week) between Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00.

Cygnet Hospital Clifton is a 25 bed specialist low secure service for men with personality related difficulties, who also present with complex mental health needs and challenging behaviours. The hospital is set out across two wards; Ancaria Ward is the admissions/ initial treatment ward, which offers a defined pathway through to Acorn Ward, which has a focus on rehabilitation, in preparation for moving on into the community or supported living.

Your Day-to-Day…

• Contributing to assessments, scoring and reporting (verbal / written)
• Clinical formulation and implementing care plans for psychological treatment
• Planning, delivering and evaluating individual / group programmes
• Administration, audit, research and service development

We’re looking for someone who is…

• Degree qualified in Psychology (2:1 or above) or equivalent
• BPS (British Psychological Society) Accredited
• Preferably experienced in health care and/or in an Assistant Psychologist role
• Passionate about learning and working as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Qualified to Master’s degree level or higher in Psychology (preferable)
