Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is seeking an Assistant Psychologist to support the Psychology Department. You will work under supervision on assessments, formulations and the development of care plans across PICU and/or Acute wards.

The role involves delivering and evaluating individual/group treatment programmes, contributing to staff training, audits and service development, and must be DBS checked before starting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) or equivalent.
• BPS Accredited (UK GBR).
• Healthcare experience or Assistant Psychologist role preferred.
• Passionate about learning and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Master’s degree in Psychology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administering and reporting psychometric assessments/outcome measures.
• Developing clinical and risk formulations.
• Supporting the development of Positive Behaviour Support and/or Safety Plans.
• Developing and implementing care plans for psychological interventions.

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage.

The Role

We are currently looking to employ a full time Assistant Psychologist to join our Psychology Department at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage. The successful candidate will join a team comprised of qualified, trainee, assistant and psychologists and will work across PICU and/or Acute wards. The post holder will be working closely with and will be supervised weekly by a qualified psychologist, who will also be the post holder’s line manager. We are seeking a strong candidate to support and enhance the psychological care of patients at the service by assisting the team with:

• Administering and reporting psychometric assessments/outcome measures
• Developing clinical and risk formulations
• Supporting with the development of Positive Behaviour Support and/or Safety Plans
• Developing and implementing care plans for psychological interventions
• Planning, delivering and evaluating individual/group treatment programmes
• Administration, audit, research and service development
• Contribute to the training and support of staff

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is mental health hospital consisting of six wards (male low and medium secure, two male PICU’s, one female acute and one male acute). We achieved an overall ‘Good’ rating following a CQC inspection.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is…

• Has completed a Degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) or equivalent
• BPS (British Psychological Society) Accredited (i.e GBR)
• Preferably experienced in health care and/or in an Assistant Psychologist role
• Passionate about learning and working as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Preferably Qualified to Master’s degree level or higher in Psychology (preferable)
