Job summary

MM Packaging in Deeside, North Wales is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to support a busy manufacturing operation. You will lead day-to-day production, coach supervisors and operatives, and drive improvements while ensuring health, safety and environmental standards are met.

Key responsibilities include planning production schedules, monitoring KPIs, and collaborating with maintenance, quality, planning and warehouse teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in Production Supervisor/Assistant Production Manager roles.
• Experience in packaging/food/FMCG environment.
• Strong leadership and people management.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Experience managing KPIs and production performance.
• Lean/Six Sigma/CI experience.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Experience with GMP/BRC/ISO standards.
• Engineering or manufacturing qualification.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day management of the production department.
• Assist with planning and coordinating production schedules to meet customer demand.
• Lead, coach and motivate production supervisors and operatives.
• Monitor productivity, downtime, waste; implement improvements.
• Ensure Health & Safety, Quality, GMP and environmental procedures are followed.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing.
• Monitor KPIs including productivity, downtime, waste, quality and labour efficiency.
• Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Planning and Warehouse departments.
• Support recruitment, training, performance management and employee development.
• Investigate production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.

The Role We are looking for a proactive and driven Assistant Production Manager to support the Production Manager in leading a busy manufacturing operation.

You will play a key role in ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards while motivating and developing production teams.

Key Responsibilities

Support the day-to-day management of the production department.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have: Previous experience in a Production Supervisor, Shift Manager or Assistant Production Manager position.

Manufacturing experience within packaging, food, FMCG, print or a fast-paced production environment.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Excellent communication and organisational abilities.

Experience of managing KPIs and production performance.

A proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Desirable Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement experience.

IOSH Managing Safely qualification.

Experience working within GMP, BRC or ISO quality standards.

Engineering or manufacturing qualification.
