MM Packaging in Deeside, North Wales is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to support the Production Manager in leading a busy manufacturing operation. The role suits an experienced Production Supervisor or Shift Manager ready to take the next step, focusing on safe, efficient production and high quality standards.

You will help plan production schedules, motivate teams, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to Health & Safety, GMP and environmental procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience as Production Supervisor, Shift Manager or Assistant Production Manager.
• Experience in packaging/food/FMCG/fast-paced production environments.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Experience managing KPIs and production performance.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Competent IT skills, including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day management of the production department.
• Assist with planning and coordinating production schedules to meet demand.
• Lead, coach and motivate production supervisors and operatives.
• Monitor productivity, efficiency and waste; drive improvements.
• Ensure Health & Safety, Quality, GMP and environmental procedures are followed.
• Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor KPIs such as productivity, downtime, waste and labour efficiency.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Planning and Warehouse teams.
• Support recruitment, training, performance management and development.
• Investigate production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain housekeeping standards across the production area.

We are looking for a proactive and driven Assistant Production Manager to support the Production Manager in leading a busy manufacturing operation. You will play a key role in ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards while motivating and developing production teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day management of the production department.
• Assist with planning and coordinating production schedules to meet customer demand.
• Lead, coach and motivate production supervisors and operatives.
• Monitor productivity, efficiency and waste, implementing improvements where required.
• Ensure all Health & Safety, Quality, GMP and environmental procedures are followed.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Monitor KPIs including productivity, downtime, waste, quality and labour efficiency.
• Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Planning and Warehouse departments.
• Support recruitment, training, performance management and employee development.
• Investigate production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained across the production area.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a Production Supervisor, Shift Manager or Assistant Production Manager position.
• Manufacturing experience within packaging, food, FMCG, print or a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Experience of managing KPIs and production performance.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable

• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement experience.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Experience working within GMP, BRC or ISO quality standards.
• Engineering or manufacturing qualification.
