Job summary

MM Packaging in Deeside, North Wales is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to support the Production Manager in a busy manufacturing operation. This is ideal for an experienced Production Supervisor or Shift Manager looking to take the next step.

You will ensure targets are met safely, efficiently and to high quality while motivating teams, coordinating schedules, and driving continuous improvement using Lean principles. A proactive leader with strong KPIs and IT skills will excel.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Production Supervisor, Shift Manager or Assistant Production Manager position.
• Packaging, food, FMCG, print or fast-paced environment experience.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Experience of managing KPIs and production performance.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day management of the production department.
• Assist with planning and coordinating production schedules to meet customer demand.
• Lead, coach and motivate production supervisors and operatives.
• Monitor productivity, efficiency and waste, implementing improvements where required.
• Ensure all Health & Safety, Quality, GMP and environmental procedures are followed.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Monitor KPIs including productivity, downtime, waste, quality and labour efficiency.
• Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Planning and Warehouse departments.
• Support recruitment, training, performance management and employee development.
• Investigate production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained across the production area.

The successful candidate will have:

• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable

• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement experience.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Experience working within GMP, BRC or ISO quality standards.
• Engineering or manufacturing qualification.
